Poems by Cat Waters and Benjamine Dominguez (aka Dizzy)

Delicate petals trace the outline of your body as they cascade gracefully from the flowering trees above
Leaving a signature upon your dewy fresh skin.
The whispering wind blows soft, yet determined in its manner.
Determined to leave its mark upon this the new autumnal morning.
I gaze longfully into your eyes, those eyes that glisten softly,
reflecting love in its rawest state.
In my ears there is the humming of the birds, feathers filled with air that lifts and breathes.
I see them winging their way to far-off lands.
Lands perhaps where no footprints have ever been seen.
The sky bursts with shades of lilac and soft blue, like the bonnet you are wearing, my love.
Smiling now I watch as you grip the ribbons with your slender fingers and tie it secure beneath you chin.
The satin accentuates your fair complection, that "peaches and cream" coloured face.
Those lips so pink and plump widen now and I see the whiteness of your smile.
A smile that speaks a thousand words.
Upon your shoes lays water splashes from the babbling brook nearby,
you laugh as it sprinkles your ankles and makes you shiver.
Taking my hand we walk slowly together to the rhythm of the band that plays in the distance.
I have thoughts only of you my love.
People are throwing rice and flowers in our direction, I wipe a petal from your forehead and kiss the place it graced.
As you grasp my hand I feel the golden metal band that proves our love for each other.
I close my eyes, with a silent thankyou to God in my head. Stepping up on the black laquered ledge of the coach, dress lifted modestly, I notice the fine blend of your skin against the soft leather.
Your delicate foot ensconced in the much lovingly hand made wedding shoe.
Now the crowds seem far behind us as we embark on our journey together.
This my love the journey to the rest of our lives. I have but one thing to say.
I love you

~Whiskey~

by Cat Waters

Whiskey, hah! just a name to some.
To others you are a drug,
A mind numbing golden fluid.
You swim in our veins poisoning our blood.
Stealing our thoughts, without us even noticing.
Thoughts, hah! just memories.
Memories some of which, we wish would die.
They haunt us and they laugh in our heads.
Teasing our spirit with their evil repetitions.
Warmth, hah! heat and safety for some.
Mine comes out of a glass, burning my throat.
Burning as it flows thru my chest
Pulsing into the chambers of my heart.
Heart, hah! means love to some.
You danced thru my heart, leaving footprints of pain.
Once a love so true, yet taken so painfully.
Mercilessly gouging, scarring, destroying.
Just like this whiskey in my hand.
Hah! Whiskey, my only friend.....my shelter....my rock.

~The Deaths of a Hundred Men~

by Cat Waters

Closing my eyes, my mind wandered and strayed
to places so far, far away on distant shores.
I saw the look of bravery upon the face of William Wallace as he tried in vain to defeat the English.
I saw the child taking the hand of its mother as she lay dying of starvation on African earth.
I saw the cuts from the stones on the hands of the people as they built the Great Wall of China.
In my ears I heard the sound of horses hoofs thundering as they galloped across the canyons in Nevada,
snorting as they herded cattle into corrals for the anxious cowhands.
I heard the sad sound of an elephant as she nuzzled her dead calf with her trunk.
I saw the pyramids standing high pointing to the heavens, the pharaohs guiding the men to work. Their brilliance forever preserved for all time and eternity.
Felt the sand sting my eyes as the camels walked the desert carrying the nomads to another camp.
I saw the kids kicking cans on the cobbled streets in Ireland, heard their laughter as they played, dirty faces and grazed knees; they had such fun. Blissfully deaf to the sounds of bombs that tore apart the city.
My skin tingled and I shivered from the cold snow that fell silently upon my flesh as I relived the Alaskan waste. The lone wolf she called to me, soulfully singing the song of death.
I saw the green leaves and smelt the scent of the fresh lemons on the trees in Sicily, as the cool breeze awakened my senses. I heared the shot and felt the pain as a bullet from a gangster's gun bit deep into my heart.
Felt the blood, warm and red pouring onto my stomach.
Heard the cries of a woman who looked on in horror.
Felt the despair of a mother and father, sister and brother, lover and wife.
I felt all emotions at once.
Love, hate, happy, sad.
I was elated, thrilled, I felt life, I experienced death.
The deaths of a hundred men.
I opened my eyes.
I shut my mind and continued with my day.

Here's another by Cat in a lighter vein.....:)

Did you see the sun rise this morning?
Did you hear the kids outside?
Did you feel the warmth from the human race?
Did you watch the seagulls glide?

Did you share your love with someone?
Did you stand in a beggar's gaze?
Did you share your wealth with another?
Did you bathe in the sea's misty haze?

Did you take my hand when I offered?
Did you smile when I looked your way?
Did you blush when I said I loved you?
Did you laugh when I said ........."Let's Play"?

VILLA by Benjamine Dominguez

Villa! Villa! the crowd calls out his name.
Feared amongst his enemies, this General was just a man.
He loved, he fought and he died to free Mexico
To free his children to free himself.
What is truth and what is myth, is lost to time and man,
His wish for the future had been just a dream,
He fought to make this dream reality, no matter what the cost.
And what a price his soldiers paid. With their lives.
Footage it transpires, over the years has been lost.
But still his legend lives on.
In Motion films and books and schools
Scholars try to "Know" the man.
Pancho now lays headless in Mexico City in his grave.
But the man needed not his eyes to see.
His heart led him thru battles great
His soul wished to set them free.
Wherever you are, Pancho, I want you to know
That thru your death you are alive
Whether good or bad, or perhaps completely mad.
You are remembered forever by man.

Against the Wind

by Benjamine Dominguez

She walked like a whore, wanton and brazon,
Commanding the glances of men.
Hips swaying, legs brown and glowing.
Perspiration rained like droplets over her breasts
tracing lines down her exquisite form.

He tried not to notice her obvious attraction
As she smiled at him, closely willing him to take.
Offering him her body, he smelled her sweat and scent
The aroma filled his sences, and overtook all reason.
He wanted her with a longing, a forbidden urge.

But he walked away, turned his back
and closed his eyes to her presence.
But one night when he was lying in bed
She roused him with a kiss,
all was lost, all would change
There was no going back.

He held her close skin on skin they rocked.
Bodies entwined in lust and passion.
Locked together now their bodies in sin.
Souls destined to burn in hell.
They were lost to each other, lost to the world.

In the cold light of the days cold dawn
as realisation struck its unearthly chord
Heat from their bodies, blood pumping through veins
like water flowing over the rapids.
His heart lay heavy with guilt and fear.

Sounds in his head told him to stop.
But caution had been thrown to the wind
Too late came this warning,
Too late to put right the temptation was consumed
What was left, but nothing, inside he was dead.

For he was an abomination in the eyes of his God.
He had killed and taken from this earth,
A life that was not ready to end.
He had made love to Satan himself it had seemed
Now he too had a mark of the dark angel.

He must leave his friends, the new life that he had made.
All behind him now they would be.
Escape this place where people had grown to Trust,
Love and respect his presence amonst them.
He deserved nothing, and would expect no more.

He rode next to the devil as the bus pulled away
from the town they would both leave behind.
With eyes shut tight no sleep would come,
he would now have to think of what was to be.
Should he? would he? embrace forever the demon?

Leaving her sleeping he watched the dust from the road.
The iron maid was now out of sight.
He would hide away make peace with the Lord
Promising never again to stray. She would wake
Alone and find him gone.

'Neath his breath sounds escaped his throat.
"Goodbye forever, dear sister!"
It had to be this way
It was never meant to be this forbidden love.
Against the wind he would forever be.
